An experiment at embedding the egret into an existing clump of reeds. The interplay of the shadows proved the most difficult part. I selected the foreground reeds using the magic wand and then used that selection to mask parts of the egret and create the reed shadows. If I were beginning again, I would probably draw new reeds rather than trying to select them -- revising the selection done automatically by the magic wand was laborious. The reeds themselves are from a picture I took at a park in southern Wisconsin.
