The remarkable state of preservation of the jeep led to the idea of what it might look like if it had not been so well maintained. I replicated the star emblem on the hood and then applied a series of rust layers made with render>clouds, color fill and the texturizer. The 'holes' were created using a render>clouds layer with a threshold layer, which was then applied to the star as a mask. Successively larger 'edge rust' layers were then inserted below the star layer and drop shadow layer styles applied.
