The Valentine's Day theme reminded me of my childhood fascination with Conversation Hearts, so I manufactured some for this image. I combined the heart and shield custom shapes in Elements to approximate the rounded heart shape of the real NECCO candy, added depth by duplicating the layer many times and embossed Arial text messages. The background stars are a brush. The overlaying mist was created on a separate layer with the Render>Clouds filter with red and white as the colors, then adjusted for opacity.
