Isolating the leaves in the previous image led to this one. The vertical arrangement of the leaves reminded me of leaves caught up in a small whirlwind. To get the sense of depth, I duplicated the leaf column twice, rotated 90 degrees, then applied the shear filter in opposite directions to the two copies and rotated them back. Reducing the opacity of these layers and moving them 'behind' the orginal isolated leaves gives the effect. The dust swirls were added with a soft brush and then blurred.
