This grew out of a discussion on the forum about how to make text with a transparent emboss. I selected sections of the statue, copied each to a new layer and applied an emboss layer style, then reduced fill to zero leaving only the emboss shading. I then filled in the background on the original image where the statue had been removed and put a composite of the transparent embossed layers above it.
