The cards, chess board and rolling dice are combined to suggest Napoleon's gamble in confronting the British at Waterloo, hoping to defeat the allies piecemeal before they could combine. The dice began as a stock image -- I chose the version with snake-eyes to suggest the outcome of the gamble and added a radial blur.
