The Challenge this week was to construct a computer ad, with computer broadly defined. I was reminded of the old IBM motto: 'Think' and began by thinking of older computing devices. Before calculators were available, I used an abacus to balance my check book, so that became my starting point. The abacus rods and balls were constructed from scratch. The man is a Photo Object with a lens flare behind him. The shadow that falls on the abacus defines the area where the balls are clustered. The fonts are Trajan and Minion Pro. The blue line effect was made with the halftone filter on the text layer mask set to lines.
